Super Class C motorhome builder ShowHauler Inc., Middlebury, Ind., has seen traffic on its website (www.showhauler.com) jump more than 2,000% since Jan. 29 after one of its custom-built units was featured on a segment of the Travel Channel’s ”Extreme RVs” program.
”We usually get 100 to 150 hits a day on our website,” said Show Hauler Sales Manager Lonnie Troyer. ”The first day after the program was on TV, we got 3,300 hits. I’ve already got 20 leads and sold one already from the program.”
After the initial telecast, the program was shown again Thursday night (Feb. 9) and will be telecast again Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. EDT.
Production crews from Brentwood Communications International Inc. (BCII), a California-based film studio, visited ShowHauler’s factory three different times last spring and summer to video the process of assembling a custom-built ShowHauler RV, which can take up to three months.
BCII also produces such programs as ”American Trucker,” ”Hot Rod TV,” ”Single with 7” and ”Car Crazy Central” for various cable channels.
Each of the three ”Extreme RVs” scheduled for telecast has three segments that look at RVs producers consider ”extreme” and then detail the processes used to build them.
The ShowHauler 35KQSSL floorplan shown being built on ”Extreme RVs” is assembled on a hefty 56,000-pound GVWR Freightliner Coronado truck chassis powered by a 560-hp DD15 Detroit Diesel engine. The base MSRP is $320,000.
”Extreme RV” segments on the Travel Channel have included a luxury travel trailer built by Anderson Mobile Estates for X-Factor’s Simon Cowell and a 15-foot NASA-inspired Cricket travel trailer from the Cricket Trailer division of Taxa LP, Houston.
Cricket founder Garrett Finney was a NASA designer and used his knowledge of space-age materials to construct the Cricket, which is available in two floorplans with a $14,500 base MSRP.
