Year-over-year Canadian motorhome sales fell 6% in December, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), while registrations were down 8.4% for the full year.
Forest River Inc. was the Canadian motorhome sales leader for 2011, capturing a 24.1% market share, followed by Winnebago Industries Inc. (16.5%) and Thor Industries Inc. (15.6%).
December Class A registrations dropped 21.6% from the year prior and finished 3.4% lower for the 12 months. Thor was No. 1 in Canadian Class A sales for the year with a 20% market share, ahead of Winnebago (17.1%) and Fleetwood RV Inc. (15.4%).
Registrations in the Class C segment showed a 38.5% gain for the month, but were down 13.3% year-to-date. For the 12 months, Forest River held a commanding lead in the category with a 38% market share followed by Winnebago (15.9%) and Forest River’s Coachmen Industries Inc. division (12.5%).
