Newmar's 2013 Dutch Star Class A

Newmar Corp. rolled out its 2013 product lineup to consumers during the recently completed Good Sam Rally in Louisville, Ky., and at the Newmar Kountry Klub Rally in Gillette, Wyo.

According to a press release, the Nappanee, Ind.-based builder placed a design emphasis on bolder colors and more eye appeal in the new product line.

Highlighting the product change was the total life-cycle redesign of the Dutch Star Class A motorhome. One of Newmar’s best known brands, the Dutch Star features a new front cap with stainless steel grill and LED accent lighting, a new hood design with hidden hinges and a heavier duty windshield wiper system with more coverage area.

The rear cap has also been redesigned and features new automotive taillights with LED accents. Four distinct, exterior graphics choices allow customers to choose from a variety of colors and each graphic includes five different colors with blended paint “fades.”

Interior improvements include three wood choices, hidden hinges on all cabinetry and new designer mitered cabinet doors with glazing. Other amenities setting off the interior are polished porcelain tile with glass inserts, solid surface countertops and a new backsplash design with cut-glass.

Additional interior upgrades include a feature ceiling added to the bedroom of all floorplans and a soffit with standard halogen lighting added to the full-wall slide floorplan. Several former options were made standard for the 2013 model year such as auto gen start, Weather Pro electric patio awning, Oasis power entry door awning and side-view cameras.

The Dutch Star is offered in 10 floorplans in lengths of 37, 40 and 43 feet. The 37-footer is powered by a 400 ISL Cummins on a Freightliner chassis, while the 40-foot and 43-foot models are equipped with a 450 ISL Cummins on the Freightliner platform.

Other features on several floorplans include a Flexsteel L-shaped Extenda-Flex sofa and a 46-inch Sony television on an electronic powered mechanism that raises or lowers the television from behind a sofa or a fireplace.

“Prior to these rallies, all of us at Newmar were very excited about the all new 2013 Dutch Star,” said Pat Terveer, director of luxury sales, product planning and design for Newmar. “The results indicated our excitement was spot-on, as dealers and customers alike have shared their acceptance of the major changes. We expect Dutch Star to experience a significant growth in sales based on early results.”

The best thin is that there are plenty of diffrent floor plans offered. People get to choose from a lot. The huge Sony TV inside will surely keep the passengers entertained all the time.

This is a bit off topic, but I just want to share with the RV dealer world my opinion of the quality of not only the Newmar product (every dealer knows about that), but more importantly of the Newmar people.

We run a non-profit organization through our dealership in WI where we take 200 WWII and Korean Era Veterans and ‘Rosie-the-Riveters’ and more than 100 assistants to Washington, DC each May. It is patterned after the wonderful Honor Flight programs, but we do it by ground, over 4-days with a convoy of ten (10) 56-passenger Prevost coaches, a support van and a luxury motorhome as a media center.

These Veterans are the ones who not only preserved our freedom, but this generation helped us all build successful careers in the RV industry. Newmar understands that and is helping us to pay our indebtedness back to these heroes.

Simply stated…Newmar TRULY gets it.

This past May, Newmar President Matthew Miller (through his wonderful secretary Pam Culp) contacted us and loaned us his personal 2012 Newmar Ventana 43′ coach, for nearly a month!

Not only did they loan us this beautiful coach, they had the factory prep it and even insisted on a full walk-through and even a road test to show us how big a feature the Comfort Drive steering system is.

Having driven motorhomes for more than 40 years, I thought this was just another sales pitch…but absolutely NOT. The Ventana was flat-out the best handling large (or small) coach I’ve ever driven!!

Thank you to Matthew, Mahlon, Richard and everyone at Newmar and I hope your 2013 models will continue to impress the retail buyers as much as they did me!!
