RVDA Urges Dealers to Vote for State Delegates

All dealers who are members of the Recreation Dealers Association (RVDA) are represented on the organization’s Board of Delegates by a state delegate.
According to the latest RV Executive Today Online, the RVDA bylaws say there should be a board of delegates to provide “input, advice, deliberation, and guidance on matters of association policy, positions, long-term goals, and planning.” Delegates meet at each RVDA convention to discuss issues facing the dealers and the association.
“Being a member of the RVDA Board of Delegates isn’t just a title — it’s a responsibility,” said Phil Ingrassia, president of RVDA.
Every year, the RVDA Nominating Committee reviews the list of state delegates whose terms are about to expire. They evaluate the willingness of the delegate to continue in that role and the level of activity and participation that the delegate has displayed over the past two years. The committee either submits the incumbent as the nominee or interviews and selects another deserving dealer member volunteer to be voted on by the state delegates, according to Ingrassia.
Dealers who work in one of the following states, should have received a ballot to vote for the candidate that was nominated to serve that state’s dealers. States include Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.
Several dealers also serve as at-large members on the board. These individuals are generally active participants in the association’s activities who also want to serve in the governance of the association.
The committee learns that at-large members want to be a part of the board when a dealer asks to be considered. In other instances, they’re recommended by fellow dealers who know them through state and local associations, 20 Groups or manufacturer councils.
People interested in becoming an at-large delegate or who know of a dealer who would be a good candidate should contact Ronnie Hepp at firstname.lastname@example.org.
