Midwest RV Show Reflects Industry’s Recovery

What may have been a long, hot summer for many in the U.S. was simply a summer that featured a mild but solid warming trend in the RV business.
And, according to a report by the South Bend (Ind.) Tribune, a cold morning rain Friday (Aug. 10) at the 57th Midwest RV Super Show at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart was not going to stop that.
In short, sales are up, nationally and locally. And dealers found they were visiting with more people serious about buying early on at the four-day show that concludes Sunday.
“I think sales have been improving dramatically here in the last year,” said Jim Schmucker, a salesman for Tiara RV Sales in Elkhart. “The signs are good right now.”
It was reflected in the number of dealers and RVs at the show.
More than 215 recreational vehicles were on hand in the area adjacent to the RV/MH Hall of Fame, just off the Toll Road in Elkhart.
“The show itself more than doubled the size of the show we had last year in downtown Elkhart,” said Mark Bowersox, the show’s director. This year’s show opened a day earlier on Thursday, too, with 450 people in attendance.
“I expect attendance to be up as reflective of the consumer demand and the interest in the growth of the industry,” Bowersox said.
