Capital Talk: Sprinter is Showcased in Chicago
This week’s “RV Capital Talk” covers a Sept. 12-13 press event in Chicago where Winnebago Industries Inc. and Airstream Inc. played key roles as Mercedes-Benz USA LLC (MBUSA), a division of Daimler-Benz AG based in Montvale, N.J., showcased the motorhome and commercial aspects of the Sprinter van in various locations, including Soldiers Field, home of the legendary Chicago Bears. MBUSA also put the Sprinter through some adventurous rollover tests for the assembled press, including RVBUSINESS.com. Winnebago utilizes a cutaway version of the fuel-efficient Mercedes Sprinter Van on its diminutive Winnebago Via and Itasca Reyo Class A’s as well as its Winnebago View Class C, while Airstream converts an Interstate line of Class B’s at its Jackson Center, Ohio, facilities – the nation’s top seller for the first seven months of the year. Sprinters have also visible in recent years under the Roadtrek, Great West and Fleetwood nameplates, among others.
