Elkhart County Jobless Rate Improves to 8.4%

Elkhart County’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.4% in September, down from 8.8% in August, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development announced today (Oct. 19).

However, the county’s rate is still above the Indiana average of 7.5% and the national average of 7.8% for September.

Elkhart County’s labor force and the number of employed people dropped between August and September, but the number of unemployed people also dropped, according to the report.
