Key English RV Show Posts Record Attendance
Organizers for England’s Motorhome and Caravan Show are claiming record-breaking visitor numbers for its event held earlier this month.
Exhibition News report that the Oct. 16-21 show at The NEC attracted 98,058 attendees, representing a 5% rise from the 2011 edition, which attracted 96,995.
The Birmingham event was the second delivered by NCC Events, the exhibitions arm of the National Caravan Council.
The caravan council took Clarion’s NEC tenancy slot but originally planned to break away from the event and launch a rival show in London after calls from key manufacturers.
Without the manufacturers’ support, Clarion was forced to hand over the Motorhome and Caravan Show at The NEC to the newly formed NCC Events.
Due to demand for more space from existing and new exhibitors, this year’s Motorhome and Caravan Show footprint was increased by 13% to occupy an 11th hall at The NEC.
“The last six days were exceptional,” said NCC Events CEO John Lally. “The atmosphere in the halls was upbeat with everyone pulling together to stage a spectacular display for the tens of thousands of consumers that made the effort to visit.
“As the organizer of an event like this, our measures of success are that visitors enjoy themselves and exhibitors achieve excellent sales results. The feedback so far is that we achieved both of these targets so we’re delighted.”
