Inspired by National Geographic’s “Doomsday Preppers” show and promoted by host Tim Ralston, Little Guy Worldwide’s “The B.O.S.S.” (Bug Out Survival Shelter) camper is a customized Rough Rider teardrop engineered to provide the “ultimate survival RV” for evacuees during natural disasters. “Although, The B.O.S.S. is uniquely equipped for disaster situations, it also is being marketed as a home base for people camping in remote areas,” noted CEO Chris Baum. Minimalist by design, the 6-foot-wide camper is equipped with a sink and stove, mounted rifle rack, four panels in the floor for additional interior storage, ramps with a front platform that can hold an optional dirt bike and a roof rack able to haul a canoe or kayak. The B.O.S.S. is tailored for the off-road with knobby tires for added clearance and a 10-gauge steel skid plate. Options include an electric-assist brake and a solar kit. MSRP is around $20,000. The Massillon, Ohio-based company also introduced a 6-foot-wide retro-look “clamshell” Silver Shadow featuring a king-size mattress, LED lights and a dry weight of 1,180 pounds. MSRP is around $12,000.
