Funding Woes Keep Four Texas Parks Closed

Four Texas park areas that cover nearly 48,000 acres of forests, canyons and beaches remain closed because park officials don’t have the money to open them. The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department hasn’t gotten money from the Legislature to develop new parks for a decade, the Houston Chronicle reported. Precision Painting Adds Shop, Hiring Workers

Responding to rising demand, Bremen, Ind.-based Precision Painting Inc. is launching a new paint shop in Elkhart and plans to add up to 100 skilled workers at the facility. Don Rank Donald E. Rank, who founded park model builder Park Haven Inc., passed away Monday (Feb. 25) at Indiana’s Elkhart General Hospital. Rank, 71, worked in the recreational vehicle industry for many years. In 1981, he founded Park Haven Inc. which grew into one of the industry’s leading park model manufacturers. RV Shipment Surge Bodes Well for Elkhart Co.

The RV industry saw just over 30% growth in January, a major surge into the new year, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) announced Tuesday (Feb. 26). The shipments of 24,379 RVs in advance of the spring/summer buying season bodes well for Indiana’s Elkhart County, which produces 83%t of all RVs in the U.S. and Canada, according to the RVIA. RVIA: January Shipments See 30.5% YOY Gain

Wholesale shipments of all RVs surged ahead in the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) January 2013 survey of manufacturers, rising to 24,379 units.  This increase was 30.5% greater than the total shipped during the same month last year.  While the gain was greatest for conventional travel trailer shipments, all vehicle categories participated in the gains this month.
