New Hampshire-based multilocation dealer Campers Inn will be exiting the Elkhart, Ind., market.
“Campers Inn has greatly enjoyed serving the Elkhart and Northern Indiana community for the past three years,” said Campers Inn President Jeff Hirsch. “From the beginning, we have sought to provide a high-value, full-service dealership focused on taking care of our customers during their entire RVing experience – from the research process to purchasing an RV to after the sale. Regretfully, we have decided that continuing to serve the Elkhart community is no longer in the best interest of either our customers or the company.”
Hirsch said that the Elkhart location did not fit into the company’s model of serving customers within a relatively local proximity.
“Over the past few years, Campers Inn has found that in order to achieve a sustainable level of business, we would have to seek and acquire customers from well outside the local area,” he said. “While this is feasible, it does not fit our model. We do not feel that we would be able to provide the excellent service and value if we actively seek out the long-distance customer by targeting other dealers’ local markets.
Hirsch reported that Campers Inn will remain in the Elkhart area through August.
“Looking ahead, Campers Inn continues to focus on our growth strategy and we are excited about opening our newest location in Union, Conn., in the coming months,” he said. “We are also excited about continuing many of the partnerships we solidified while operating in Elkhart, such as our outstanding relationship with Forest River. I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has made Campers Inn a success, and I know our best years are yet to come.”
