Cummins 2Q Profits Off 12% on Weaker Margins

Cummins Inc.’s second-quarter earnings fell 12% as the supplier of engines for heavy-duty trucks reported weaker margins, offsetting a slight increase in sales. General RV Center, based in Wixom, Mich., is ready to start construction on a new dealership at a planned site in the Tampa, Fla., area, according to a report in the Tampa Tribune. Allison Reports Drop in Income, Revenue for 2Q

Indianapolis-based Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. reported a decrease in net income for its second quarter on lower sales, primarily driven by lower demand in parts of the North American energy sector. Net income was $50.5 million, or 26 cents per share, compared to $412.8 million, or $2.21 per share, in the same period last year. If you want to put the current RV shipment numbers in perspective, look only to 2009, according to a report in the South Bend (Ind.) Tribune.
