Powder Coating Firm Expands, Adding Workers
An expansion at Etna Green, Ind,-based Winona Powder Coating Inc. could mean an additional 25 jobs over the next several years, according to a report in the South Bend Tribune. The firm serves as a subcontractor to companies doing business in the RV arena.
Winona Powder Coating, which was founded in 1974, started powder coating in 1979 and has powder coated $1 billion in parts. It also has a 50,000-square-foot plant in Elkhart.
Its newest location, the former site of Shulte Homes, represents a $5 million capital investment. It has 167,000 square feet of production space, more than the company’s former building in Mentone, which had 30,000 square feet. The Etna Green location will also provide a state-of-the-art powder coating line with a five-stage washer, automatic and manual coating booths and digitally controlled ovens.
“This industrial property in Etna Green provided the perfect location for Winona Powder Coating to expand,” said Jamie Visker, CEO of the company in a news release. “We had outgrown our facility in Mentone and to find such a building only nine miles away is simply amazing.”
The town of Etna Green provided the company with a three-year tax abatement, said Councilman Jim Robbins in a phone interview. Also, Indiana Municipal Power, which serves Etna Green, worked with Energize Indiana to provide energy assessments and a substantial discount to relight and energize the building.
