Revamped SoCal Park Offers Airstream Rentals
New owners have given Southern California’s Palm Canyon Resort & RV Park a $1 million facelift and transformed the property into a distinctive Western-themed vacation destination that also includes vintage Airstream and “Canned Ham” trailer rentals, according to a news release.
“Not a day goes by that people don’t stop by to take pictures and see the many improvements that are underway here,” said Shirley Grear, general manager of Palm Canyon Resort, which features a 61-room hotel as well as a 103-site campground.
“This is a resort that can nicely accommodate anyone,” she said, “regardless of whether you have an RV or want to taste the RV lifestyle in vintage style or prefer to be pampered in a luxurious hotel room.”
New owners took over the property earlier this year and have overhauled it, updating everything from its plumbing and air conditioning systems to the colors of its walls. Indeed, the exterior of the hotel has been transformed from a bland collection of five sandstone colored buildings into an eye-catching resort with each building featuring a different desert-friendly shade of blue, green, red, rust or yellow.
“We hope the property will appeal as much to snowbirds from the Pacific Northwest and Canada as it does to couples and families from throughout Southern California who are looking for a unique vacation getaway,” Grear said.
Grear said final improvements, including the placement of additional Airstream and “Canned Ham” trailer rentals, are expected to be completed before Borrego Days Desert Festival, which is set for Oct. 25–27, as well as the resort’s annual Nightfall event, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, which attracts astronomy enthusiasts from throughout California who come to the resort with their telescopes to explore Borrego Springs‘ famous dark skies.
