A spike in attendance and strong sales highlighted the 61st California RV Show, held Oct. 11-20 at the Fairplex in Pomona.
According to a press release, total attendance at the 10-day retail event jumped by 39% with 28,894 attendees versus 20,756 attendees last year. The show got off to a fast start with a very strong opening weekend that saw attendance up by 65%.
“Our opening weekend was terrific with nearly 14,000 attendees on hand and that really set the pace for the entire show,” said Tom Gaither, Western show director for the host Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). “There was high level of consumer interest, steady business activity, and a strong sense of optimism among exhibitors about the regional and national RV market moving forward.”
Larry Meredith with Forest River Inc. added, “This is the best consumer traffic I’ve seen at the California RV Show in the past 10 years or more. The parking lots were full, buyers were out, salespeople were constantly busy. It was just a great event.”
Steve Richardson, owner of Richardson’s RV Centers, noted, “This has been our best selling show in 20 years.”
RVIA will debut a Spring California RV Show in 2014 from March 12–16 at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia. The 62nd California RV Show is set for Oct. 10-19 at the Fairplex.
