The recreational vehicle business is bringing more jobs to Indiana’s Elkhart County.

The South Bend Tribune reported that California-based RV supplier Girard Systems and Girard Products LLC is currently in the process of moving into a 30,800-square-foot facility in Goshen. The move puts Girard, which makes tankless water heaters and awnings for RVs, closer to the industry it serves.

It will be adding from 25 to 30 jobs over the next year to 18 months, according to Jerry Rennert, general manager of Girard Products., as it moves the entire water heater operation to Goshen.

“It puts us in the heart of our customer base so we can do a better job economically,” Rennert said.

Rennert said the San Clemente-based company was running out of space in a similar sized facility, which it will maintain.

“It didn’t make too much sense to buy or lease a facility in California when you know the majority of the business is here,” he said.

It looked for a couple of years and finally made the decision to come to Goshen. The property also has four additional acres behind the building Girard is leasing, Rennert said.

“We’re here to stay,” Rennert said. “Our Girard Products, which is our tankless water heater business, has grown dramatically. And Girard Systems, our awning business, has grown dramatically.
