Major English RV Show Posts Record Numbers
Manufacturers are reporting record orders following the Motorhome and Caravan Show in England, with plans to take on more staff to cope with demand.
The Hull Daily Mail reported that the show, which took place at the NEC in Birmingham, coincided with the launch of the forthcoming season’s new model range and allows buyers the opportunity to place orders in time for delivery at the start of the new holiday season.
This year, the event clocked up a record attendance of 100,179 visitors, with local firms now measuring how enquiries have translated into sales.
Jim Hibbs, managing director of Coachman Caravans and chairman of the National Caravan Council (NCC), noted, “We always enjoy great sales at the Motorhome and Caravan Show but this year exceeded our expectations with a record 356 units retailed.
The Birmingham show is organized by NCC Events, the exhibition arm of the NCC.
John Lally, director general of the NCC, said, “For the industry, the sales success of this show is about more than just reaping a return on investment; it signals a potential upturn for the industry which we have been working towards since the recession hit. That is the real reason to celebrate.
