23rd New Orleans RV Show Reports 14% Growth
The 23rd Annual New Orleans RV Show wrapped up Sunday (March 9) with a healthy 14% increase in attendance compared with 2013. According to a press release, the three-day event was held at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner, La.
“This was our strongest New Orleans Show in about five years, with all participating dealers reporting very good results,” said Bart Caple, spokesperson for BAC Productions LLC, noting the show posted strong numbers despite competing against the New Orleans Boat Show at the Superdome.
Caple reported that many in attendance were still new to the RV lifestyle. “Our preliminary research showed that 57% of the attendees were at the show for the first time while 63% did not own an RV,” he said. “It reinforces the fact that public RV shows are important to the industry, helping bring people into the marketplace.”
Area dealers said they enjoyed steady traffic and sales during the event. Comments included:
• Walter Scott, owner of Scotty’s Camper Sales, New Iberia: “We had a great show. There were a lot more serious buyers this year than the last few years. We’re very pleased. Our best show in several years”
• Hoytt Adcock, president, Blanchards Trailer Sales, Baton Rouge: “Such a great turnout. Many buyers and soon to be buyers attended this show. We were very pleased with our sales. Much better than last year.”
• Jeremy Bradley, general sales manager, Dixie RV Superstores, Hammond: “There were better quality attendees this year. There were also many first time buyers who attended. We did very well with entry level Class C motorhomes as well as travel trailers. Overall, it was a great show for us.”
