Virginia RV Show to Feature Upscale Amenities
Granite countertops and stainless steel appliances are no longer reserved for waterfront and upscale homes. You can get them on wheels, too.
The Newport (Va.) News Daily Press reported that not only are there more of them, motorhomes are a bit fancier these days, too, said Anthony Tedesco, manager of GS Events, which will host the Virginia RV Show at the Hampton Roads Convention Center March 14-16.
Memories of camping in today’s RVs will be a bit different from those who might have memories of camping in an RV 10 years ago.
Today, everything is electric. Awnings, ground levelers and jacks are all handled by the push of a button. Nothing is operated manually.
In addition, everything inside the RV is outfitted to feel like your home. There are islands in the kitchen, recliners in the back bedroom, larger showers, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, leather seating, hardwood options, the list is endless.
The sweet spot for most RV dealers in Hampton Roads seems to be in the $20,000 to $30,000 range, said Dennis Dalheim, general manager for Dixie RV in Newport News.
While most people in the region spend about that much, those with larger budgets can spend $250,000 or more on an RV. To roll like the Hollywood stars do on movie sets, expect an all-out luxury motorhome to cost in the millions.
