The longest-tenured employee at Forest City, Iowa-based Winnebago Industries Inc. predates the company’s iconic motorhomes. By years.

The Cedar Falls Courier reported that the Winnebago recently took note of that, honoring Harlan Rodberg Feb. 24, the 50th anniversary of his employment with the company.

Rodberg, joined Winnebago Feb. 24, 1964, as an electrician, wiring 110-volt systems in the company’s travel trailers. It was two years before Winnebago built its first motorhome.

“When I came here, we weren’t even thinking about motor homes,” said Rodberg, 69, a native of Fertile.

Rodberg has filled an array of functions at the company over the last five decades, including foreman, production supervisor and his current job as special repairer.

He has worked on Line 1 in the motorhome facility for the last 34 years.
