An overcast day that began with rain could not stop the sun that’s currently shining on the RV industry.

That was evident Friday (April 25) at the 2nd annual Spring Hall of Fame RV Show at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and in the release of the latest shipment numbers by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.

Wholesale shipments of all RVs advanced 16.4% over the March total a year ago, rising to 33,678 units — the best March total since 2007, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). RV shipments have been up 27 consecutive months compared to the same month the year previous.

Despite a windy Thursday and a windy Friday that included morning rains, sales at the RV show look to help keep those trends moving forward.

“Despite the wind and chilly temperatures, we had a great turnout,” said Matt Rose, show director and director of recreation vehicles, for the Indiana Manufactured Housing Association/Recreation Vehicle Indiana Council (IMHA/RVIC).

“We saw good sales on the first day. The climate of the RV industry was reflected perfectly (Thursday),” he said. “People are coming out. They are buying larger units than they were last year. The dealers that came out brought more units and bigger units than last year.”

More than 200 units from seven dealers are on display at the show, which continues through Sunday.
