N.Y. Retailer Finally Gets OK to Build Showroom

Land is being cleared in Colonie, N.Y., for a new Albany RV dealership, but it took a long time to get the approvals and permits needed for the 40,000-square-foot showroom reports the Albany Business Review.

How long?

“Our office was going full-bore for almost six years on this,” said Dan Hershberg, a veteran consulting engineer in Albany who represented the company during the approval process. “This is the most extreme example of ‘individual’ permits from the Army Corps of Engineers I’ve experienced.”

Still, Hershberg is quick to not blame just the usual suspect: government regulations.

A number of factors prolonged the approval process, he said.

Albany RV is part of RV One Superstores Inc., a chain with dealerships in Buffalo; Des Moines, Iowa; Orlando, Florida; and Tampa, Florida
