The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) Convention/Expo Committee is soliciting proposals for education workshops for the 2014 convention, which will offer more than 50 opportunities for speakers to present  before the top RV retailers in North America. Minn.-Based Hilltop Buying ‘Lewie’s RV Center’

Brainerd, Minn.-based Lewie’s RV Center is expected to finalize a sale to Hilltop Trailer Sales at the end of April with new ownership in place on May 1. The Brainerd Daily Dispatch reported that Hilltop, a family owned business since 1951, currently has Minnesota locations in Fridley and Rochester. Nappanee, Ind.-based Newmar Corp. announced the list of dealers being recognized for providing excellent customer service over the past year. TriMas Corp. Posts Record 1Q Sales; Profits Up

Bloomfield, Mich.-based TriMas Corp., parent to Cequent Performance Products, reported record net sales for its first quarter, ended March 31. Revenue during the period grew to $367.7 million, an increase of 8.9% compared to first quarter 2013. Cummins Reports Gains In 1Q Sales, Earnings

Engine maker Cummins Inc. today (April 29) reported an increase in net income and sales for its first quarter, ended March 30. First quarter revenue of $4.4 billion increased 12% from the same quarter in 2013. Kevin Combs A letter distributed Monday (April 28) to Jayco Inc. dealers and obtained by confirms that 42-year-old Kevin Combs, product director for Middlebury, Ind.-based Jayco Inc., died early Saturday morning. Combs, who oversaw product design for Jayco’s toy hauler division, was killed in a car accident in South Bend. The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) is urging members to fill out the annual Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) survey. Former ‘Eaz-Lift’ Owner Mathisen Passes Away

Ray C. Mathisen Raymond C. Mathisen, one time owner of Eaz-Lift Spring Corp. and industry pioneer, passed away on April 13 at his home in Burbank, Calif., two months short of his 94th birthday. Mathisen left his job as an officer with the LAPD in the 1950’s to help his father, MH Mathisen, the founder of Eaz-Lift, to grow the family business.
