Elkhart Co. Unemployment Drops as RVs Roll
The jobless rate in Indiana’s Elkhart County keeps falling as the recreational vehicle and boat industries keep booming.
The county’s April unemployment rate was 5%, down sharply from 5.8% in March, and more people were working in April than at any point in the past 13 years, according to state figures released Friday, May 16.
That’s the lowest level since February 2007, before the Great Recession hit.
April marked the fourth time in the past five months that the county’s jobless rate has fallen. It has plummeted from 8.2% in April 2013, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
