RVIA Officially Opens New Site in Elkhart, Ind.
Executives from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) officially opened the association’s new satellite office in Elkhart, Ind., Thursday (May 8), following their attendance at the RV Industry Power Breakfast at the Northern Indiana Event Center in the RV/MH Hall of Fame.
The RVIA’s board elected to establish the office in the heart of the acknowledged RV-building capital during its annual meeting in March. Currently, the association is based in Reston, Va.
The office, located at 633 CR 17 near the facilities of a number of RV manufacturers as well as the Hall of Fame, will be staffed by Sharonne Lee, RVIA’s director of education, and Scott Graham, the new national show director, while also providing space for future growth and a headquarters for RVIA personnel visiting the area.
Getting down to business will mean different things for each of the two staffers stationed here. According to Lee, her duties will mostly be the same, “except I’ll able to do it face-to-face now instead of on the phone,” she said. “We made some visits earlier this week and we’ll just be increasing that, going around and getting the schedules full.”
Graham recently joined RVIA, replacing Mary “Mike” Hutya who retired on March 31. He said the location is crucial as he immerses himself in the industry and its members. “We as an association are here to serve our members, and that’s the main priority,” he said. “They’re what it’s all about, and that’s why I’m here.”
In fact, the Elkhart staff will soon be doubled. RVIA President Richard Coon said they’re looking to hire two more full-time workers, an administrative assistant and a technician to conduct “basic 101” system training sessions across the country.
