RVIA’s PR Efforts Garnering Major Media Hits

Growing RV shipments and innovative products continued to drive RV coverage throughout the spring. The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) also worked to promote local RV shows in the media, which resulted in stories that appeared in markets across the country.

Coverage appeared in an array of publications around the country, including:

• On May 15, the New York Times published a comprehensive article on how baby boomers are helping to fuel the RV industry’s growth.

Men’s Journal focused on new trends and products in the RV industry in story posted on their website which has 1.45 million unique visitors.

On April 23, Bloomberg Business Week posted a video report on its high-traffic website about the industry’s growth and new products available. The story included a test drive through Manhattan and interview with an RVIA spokesman.

On March 11, The Daily Press, a major newspaper serving the Hampton Roads, Va., towns, reported that RV shipments in 2013 were nearly double the total from 2009.

On March 7, Benzinga.com, a leading financial media outlet, reported that the RV industry is resurgent because of a growing economy and more baby boomers are retiring and heading for the outdoors.

On March 1, The Providence Journal published a story that baby boomers are keeping the RV industry rolling. One dealer said that demand was so high that, “It’s hard to keep RVs on the lot.”

    The publicity that RVIA’s PR group continues to garner on behalf of the industry touting the benefits of travel by RV is terrific. What great success – let’s not take it for granted.
