A dropoff in Class C sales offset gains in the Class A segment as year-over-year Canadian motorhome sales were down 7.4% in March. Statistical Surveys Inc. reported that overall sales edged up 3.1% for the first quarter.
Forest River Inc. was the Canadian motorhome sales leader year-to-date, capturing a 31.6% market share, followed by Winnebago Industries Inc. (16.9%) and Thor Industries Inc. (16.5%).
March Class A registrations gained 8.6% while year-to-date sales rose 6%. Forest River was No. 1 through March with a 25.3% market share, ahead of Winnebago (18.4%), Fleetwood RV Inc. (17.1%) and Thor (16.5%).
In the Class C segment, March sales dropped 24.6% from a year ago and slipped 0.9% for the three months. Forest River led the category with a 40.7% share followed by Jayco Inc. (21.3%), Thor (16.7%) and Winnebago (14.8%).
