                                                                                                                                               Year-over-year Canadian towable retail sales declined 18% in April and 13% for the first four months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc.

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector fell 18.3% in April and 11.8% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales declined 14.9% for the month and 14.3% through April.

• Folding camping trailer registrations declined 24.3% in April and 22.2% for the four months.

• Canadian sales of recreational park trailers were down 43.5% for the month and 57.4% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader through April with a 39.8% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (30.7%) and Jayco Inc. (16.2%).

Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the four months, holding a 39.6% market share, while Forest River was No. 2 (28.5%) and Jayco was No. 3 with a 17.6% share.

Thor was the leader in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector year-to-date, capturing a 48.2% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting a 32.5% share followed by Jayco at 9%. In the park model sector, Thor held a 40% market share while General Coach garnered a 25% share followed by Woodland Park (20%).

Forest River led Canadian folding camping trailer sales for the four months with a 64.2% market share while Jayco posted a 29.2% share.
