Coyote Ranch Resort in Wichita Falls is kicking off the 2014 travel season as the sixth campground in Texas to join the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort chain.

“We feel this is the right move for us,”said Judy Sorge, general manager of the 90-acre resort, which features 123 RV sites and 23 cabins and cottages as well as a yurt and a bunkhouse. “We’ve always focused on families, but we feel that being part of the Jellystone Park network will help us bring even more families into our park.”

According to a press release, Coyote Ranch Resort joined the Jellystone Park franchise network after investing several hundred thousand dollars in improvements, which include a splashpad that will open this summer, an 18-hole mini-golf course, a jumping pillow, a children’s playground and an outdoor theater. The park also has two swimming pools, sand volleyball, tetherball and basketball courts, bocce ball, outdoor movies and a catch-and-release fishing pond.

In recent years, weddings and family reunions have accounted for about a third of Coyote Ranch Resort’s business, with another third coming from its cabin rentals. The final third of its revenue comes from its RV site rentals. The wedding side of the business will continue to operate using the Coyote Ranch Resort name.
