RVIA Inspectors Conducted Bi-Annual Meeting
The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) team of inspectors and staff from the Standards and Education department met for their bi-annual meeting in early July at the association’s Elkhart office. According to a report in RVIA Today Express, these types of meetings are held regularly to help maintain and improve the consistency in the standards inspection process.
The primary focus at this session was to review and educate staff on the 2014 NFPA 1192 code requirements that will begin to be enforced beginning Sept. 1 and to discuss other technical issues that have surfaced since the group last met in November 2013.
Also during the meeting, Senior Inspector Curt Richardson was recognized for his 25-year career with RVIA. In presenting RVIA’s employee service award to Richardson, RVIA Vice President of Standards Bruce Hopkins said, “Curt’s knowledge and experience in the area of RV standards has been vital in assisting our members and providing our department with key insight on the development of safety-related code changes. In addition providing his technical expertise, he has also been the point person overseeing the critical job of staging move-in and move-out at all RVIA shows.”
Those taking part in the meeting were Richardson, Hopkins, John Proteau, standards administrator/chief inspector, Kent Perkins, senior director of RV standards, Greg Wischmeyer, inspector/certified technician, and Mick Sass, inspector/media coordinator.
