It apparently isn’t just the quality of Quality Hardwood Sales LLC that led to its recent expansion; it also is the Nappanee, Ind., company’s quick turnaround time on orders.

The South Bend Tribune reported that Quality Hardwood Sales recently added 50,000 square feet to its current facility for domestic and foreign inventory, giving it a total of 128,000 square feet.

The company also is in the process of adding about 25 workers over the next two years to its current 85-person work force.

The company, which began in 2001, makes component parts for kitchen cabinets used in homes and recreational vehicles.

Many of its customers are cabinet makers that are competing against China and they need a quick turnaround time on orders, said co-owner Darin Hurn.

“Whatever program they’re offering that means the supplies have a very short lead time,” he said, so his company has to get its kitchen components to them fast. “A day or a few days later, we will process the material and it’s in their factory.”
