RVDA Adds Social Media Track to Convention

RVDA convention logoA new education track focused on social media and e-marketing will feature expert presentations during the 2014 RV Dealers International Convention/Expo, Nov. 10-14 at Bally’s on the Las Vegas strip. The largest education event for North American RV dealers, the convention/expo includes five days of education, training, and networking for dealers and their top managers.  Register at the RVDA convention website.

In the social media and e-marketing track, top presenters, including experts from eBay Motors and Moz, will share best practices and explore both the limitations and opportunities in the ever-changing digital landscape. The track will kick off with a workshop on Nov. 11 entitled, “Ignite Your Online Sales: How to Sell More RVs Online with eBay,” presented by eBay Motors’ Kevin Lorell and Tracy Amato of Auction123.com. Whether a dealer already has a strong eBay presence or needs to get started, the presenters will have sound advice for ways to take online sales to a higher level.

Through a sponsorship from InteractRV, dealers will have the opportunity to learn the latest in search engine optimization from Tim Resnick of Moz, a leading SEO consulting firm. “Sell More RVs by Dominating the Search Engines,” will explain the terms and tactics involved in SEO and share strategies for increasing sales through best practices. The session will take place on Nov. 12.

Also on Nov. 12, Peter Martin of Cactus Sky Communications will present, “Developing and Maintaining Customer Relationships through Social Media.” Martin will go into detail about effective social media strategies, what to avoid and what to embellish. He’ll outline best practices when dealing with customers on social media and give you tips and ideas to increase your following. On Nov. 13 he’ll present a workshop on, “Yelp Reviews and Your Online Reputation.” He will go over claiming a Yelp listing, monitoring reviews and what else dealers need to do to protect and preserve their online reputation.

Evanne Schmarder will present “Yes, You CAN Be a Content Marketing Rock Star,” on Nov. 12. Schmarder, of Roadabode Productions, will guide attendees through the steps to creating or curating content with multiple platforms, customer demographics, business objectives, and trends in mind and will offer a hands on component allowing attendees to create a content calendar and learn how to plan for the big picture.

Schmarder will follow that session with a workshop on “Successful Visual eMarketing.” Her audience will take away a clear understanding of why they should embrace visual marketing, tools to streamline visual content creation, and the ability to create and use visual marketing to tell a story about their business and our industry.

On Nov. 13, Ally’s Harvey Fisher and Courtney Hennessey will present “Social Media: Is Social Media a Fad?”  Through video and discussion, the two will explore metrics of social media and the impacts it is having on your customers’ shopping habits, the sales cycle and the dealership. Attendees will receive a Social Media Guide as well as campaign planning tools.

Sheril Vergara will present an afternoon session on Nov. 13 “Advanced Social Media Strategies.” Learn how to successfully build relationships to create conversions that create viable leads. Discover how to turn the social media efforts into bona fide sales. In this workshop, attendees will learn various advanced social media strategies designed expressly to take dealerships beyond a mere social media presence.

Themed “Passport to Excellence : Education & Training,” the convention remains affordable with an advance full registration rate of $659 for members and a lower rate of $599 for additional registrants from the same dealership. RVDA also offers special registration payment plans, including an easy-pay plan, and the ability to lock in early bird savings for additional employees with one paid convention registration. The convention will provide relevant learning opportunities for dealers and key members of their staff.

In addition to the new track, workshops are in place for dealer/GMs, sales staff, parts and service managers, and rental operators. The 2014 convention will also feature an exhibit hall filled with the RV industry’s top companies offering products and services to help dealers improve profitability.
