Zimmerman Joining ‘Men in Kilts’ Fundraiser
It’s not every day do you see a local business leader, president of one of the RV industry’s largest manufacturers, and father of two slip into something so unusual as a Scottish kilt. But that is exactly what Keystone RV Co. president Matt Zimmerman is doing. And it’s all for a good cause.
According to a press release, Zimmerman is a 2014 “Men in Kilts” representative for the Ronald McDonald House of Michiana fundraiser and is competing against seven other participants for the honor of earning the title “King of the Kilts.”
The Ronald McDonald House of Michiana is located in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind., and provides lodging and comfort for families with hospitalized children.
“As a father of two young sons, I can only imagine how Monica and I would feel if one of our boys was hospitalized with a serious illness,” Zimmerman said. “The funds raised through ‘Men in Kilts’ support the House and make it possible for seriously ill children to have their moms and dads close to them 24-hours a day. No child should be alone, and the Ronald McDonald House through the support of ‘Men in Kilts’ makes this possible.”
Zimmerman has an added incentive to lead the fundraising and earn “King of the Kilts.”
“Until recently, the charity’s fundraising had been focused on St. Joseph County, with Elkhart sort of being forgotten,” he said. “Last year, an Elkhart County competitor was added, Gregg Fore, president of Dicor. Greg blew the doors off all the other Kilts competitors, tripling the previous high and raising $67,000. This is why I love this county. We work hard and give back to our community in a huge way. I am honored to represent Elkhart County and look forward to hitting the bar Mr. Fore has set.”
