 Year-over-year Canadian towable sales declined 13.9% in October and 11.9% for the first 10 months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector fell 12.4% in October and 10.5% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales declined 18.5% for the month and 16.7% through October.

• Folding camping trailer registrations edged down 1.9% in October and showed a 12.3% decline year-to-date.

• Canadian recreational park trailers were down 22.7% for the month on low volume and 24.1% for the 10 months.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through October with a 39.2% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (32.4%) and Jayco Inc. (18.3%).

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the 10 months, holding a 39.5% market share, while Forest River was No. 2 (31.4%), followed by Jayco (19.3%). Thor was No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 47.1% market share, followed by Forest River with a 30.9% share, and Jayco at 12.1%.

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 60.1% market share while Jayco posted a 32.5% share. General Coach led the park model sector for the 10 months with a 48.3% market share while Forest River and Woodland Park each owned 16.7% of the market.
