Custom-designed for use in travel trailers, the “next generation” of the iN-Command Control System has earned strong reviews since its debut on select travel trailer lines by Goshen, Ind.-based Dutchmen RV during September’s Elkhart RV Open House and at the California RV Show in Pomona.

“Meeting the specific requirements of each model, this new generation enables even more RVers to get a sophisticated, remote system into a mainstream travel trailer,” said Dutchmen President Troy James.

Developed in partnership with Elkhart, Ind.-based ASA Electronics, the next generation of iN-Command is a standard feature in the Kodiak Ultimate series, Aerolite Luxury Class, Denali, and Coleman Light series.

“Dutchmen’s history of being an innovative company that is focused on providing customers with the best product experience possible was what propelled our decision to partner with ASA,” James said. “We truly believe that this system will enhance the end users’ experience with our products’ easier setup and operation of basic functions that, in the end, will give them more time to enjoy your time away with friends and family.”

This particular iN-Command Control System is being billed as “next generation” because “this is just the beginning of where we are headed with iN-Command,” said Cedric Waters, RV OEM account manager for ASA Electronics.

The iN-Command Control Systems allows users to control and monitor the primary functions of the RV via a touchscreen Display Commander (DC) or smart device app, which communicates with the Body Control Module (BCM), the central hub of the system. The BCM is located behind a protective panel in the basement storage and features the industry-first unified wiring and motorized safety lockout. The wiring is color-coded and labeled for easier troubleshooting, and the BCM’s automotive-grade relay switches are readily available at any auto parts store.

The integrated lockout safety feature, also an industry-first, is engaged whenever the travel trailer is connected to a seven-way plug in the tow vehicle, preventing the operation of motorized functions including sliderooms, awnings, and front landing jacks on a fifth-wheel application.

While differentiated by a smaller DC and BCM, Waters said the next generation iN-Command Control Systems “continues to provide convenience, control, and safety for the mainstream travel trailer segment.”

“I am very optimistic about home innovation making its way into the RV environment through the extra level of technology and control that iN-Command Control System provides,” he said. “As iN-Command is expanded into multiple brands, it continues to prove itself as the most adaptable, user-friendly system on the market.”
