Nearly 1 million people are expected to get outdoors May 20  for the National Park Trust’s 7th annual Kids to Parks Day. According to a release, children, families and schools across the country will celebrate their local, state and national parks at more than 1,000 events.

Mayors from more than 350 cities and towns from Boston to San Diego have signed resolutions of support and are planning events this weekend. Visit for a complete list of park events by state and downloadable tips and activity guides to help children, families and teachers plan park adventures.

Kids to Parks Day is a cornerstone event of Great Outdoors Month, a nationwide celebration of healthy, active fun outdoors lasting from Memorial Day to the 4th of July. Each year, the president and all 50 governors issue proclamations of Great Outdoors Month, encouraging enjoyment of the outdoors, including America’s magnificent public lands and waters, and the economic and healthful benefits it offers.
