Last year’s CARAVAN SALON saw record crowds

CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF will feature over 600 international exhibitors and more than 2,100 recreation vehicles, including 130 towable and motorhome brands, covering 2.3 million square feet of exhibit space in 13 halls. The event will take place Aug. 25 through Sept. 5 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The show will again cover all market segments. In addition to the diversity of RVs, accessories, technical equipment, fittings, and awnings will be on display as well as information about campsites and travel destinations.

Joachim Schäfer, managing director of the organizer Messe Düsseldorf, commented, “Caravanning and the whole segment of mobile leisure continues to experience a real boom and attracts large numbers of people. Freedom, independence, proximity to nature and, above all, that desire to get to know unknown regions and cities are the reasons that make this kind of vacationing so fascinating. The demand from exhibitors was so high that we had to enlarge our exhibition area again.”

CARAVAN SALON Director Stefan Koschke added, “CARAVAN SALON is the No. 1 fair and trend barometer for the industry. The great success of CARAVAN SALON has stimulated the interest of other European and international companies – following the extension of the vehicles halls last year this applies particularly to the equipment and accessories industry. We expect the number of firms exhibiting in this segment to increase further and, hence, exceed 600 exhibitors in total. The outlook is superb and we are looking to this year’s event with optimism.

For the 2017 event, the accessories segment will be reorganized. “To maintain the trade fair’s great appeal it is necessary to present the market for accessories as complete as possible, said Koschke. “New suppliers from North America, Asia and Eastern Europe as well as requests by participating accessories vendors to adapt the hall structure to the increased demand have prompted us to install a second technology area in Hall 5. This means we will substantially expand the ranges of fittings, installations and technical equipment yet again.”

In Hall 7a a new accessories area will be created exclusively dedicated to over-the-counter sales of caravanning and camping accessories. In Hall 5 the traditional showcase of awnings and roof-top tents as well as folding caravans will be continued alongside the new technology area. The tourism section with campsites and motor home parks as well as travel destinations will still be housed in Hall 7.

In addition, the event will offer Discover Camping & Caravanning,” a first contact point for RVing independent of any manufacturers. In various themed worlds both beginners and seasoned RV enthusiasts will get information about mobile vacationing.

“Last year we succeeded in bringing more first-time visitors to CARAVAN SALON. Many of these ‘newbies’ deliberately head for the StarterWorld to gather some general information enabling them to take the right purchasing decisions,” commented Koschke.

Experts at the “StarterWorld” will provide hands-on tips and recommendations on vehicle types, travel routes and the right choice of campsites.

Many of the RV fans will travel to the event in their own vehicles, with about 65,000 attendees spending the night in their RVs or mobile homes at the Caravan Center offering more than 3,500 serviced and non-serviced spaces.
