The Standards Department held its bi-annual staff meeting May 23-25 at the Elkhart, Ind., office.

The primary objectives of the meeting were to review technical/policy issues, build on consistency in our inspections program and review of the department’s three-year-plan. As reported by RVIA Today Express, RVIA Chairman Bob Parish was also in attendance.

Parish joined the discussion with inspectors for more than three hours and reviewed technical issues, upcoming 2018 NFPA 1192 code changes and participated a robust discussion on inspection expense analysis.

Hepraised the inspection staff by stating that they were an “invaluable asset” based on the association’s key priorities of maintaining self-regulation and compliance to the adopted safety standards.

Bruce Hopkins, RVIA vice president of standards and education, expressed that having the chairman of the board participate in a bi-annual inspection staff meeting was a fantastic opportunity “for us to showcase the expertise of our inspectors and allowed Bob to experience an in-depth look at the role that they play within the association.”
