Year-over-year Canadian towable sales rose 9% in June, while growing 7.7% for the first six months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). The market gained momentum in the second quarter, posting a 10.2% increase during the three-month period.

Results by segment showed:

• Travel trailer sales grew 12% in June and 9.5% year-to-date.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales edged up 1.3% for the month and 2.9% through June.

• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 8.8% in June and 6.2% year-to-date.

• A total of six park model RVs were shipped for the month compared to 16 last year.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through June with a 56.1% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. which notched a 33.3% share.

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the six months, claiming a 57.4% market share, followed by Forest River (33.1%). Thor was No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 57.6% market share, followed by Forest River (26.4%) and Grand Design RV Co. (10.6%).

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 67.2% market share while Thor posted a 22.1% share.
