RVIA Show will occupy over 1 million square feet in Kentucky Exposition Center

While incorporating new elements and programs that move beyond the National RV Trade Show’s traditional role as a key buying/selling platform, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) has also expanded the footprint for the Nov. 27-30 event, occupying over 1 million square feet in Louisville’s Kentucky Exposition Center — the highest total since the prerecession years.

“The square footage certainly speaks to the strength of the show, and the industry,” noted Jeremy Greene, who joined RVIA in the beginning of June as director of marketing, trade shows. “We did see a small increase in traditional OEM and supplier exhibitors, but the biggest factor is the addition of the Outdoor Lifestyle Pavilion. It was a way for us to bring in vertical products for dealers and campground managers.

“The pavilion is a reflection of how RV dealers are reaching a different type of consumer, particularly with the influx of Millennials,” he added. “It’s another opportunity for growth. They can sell an RV and then get that customer back in their store by offering products to help enhance their camping experience.”

Located in the West Wing of the Exposition Center, the pavilion will be situated in an area that has sat empty for several years. “We really wanted to increase the traffic in the West Wing,” Greene related. “We’ll also be holding our Top Tech Challenge in that area, which, we think, is going to draw a lot of attendees.”

The pavilion also ties into RVIA’s overarching goal of helping dealers “sell more RVs.”

“At the end of the day, if we can help dealers sell more RVs through our show offerings, everyone wins,” said Liz Crawford, RVIA senior VP of trade shows and events. “Our team has spent countless hours conducting research and surveys with dealers to ensure that the show’s products, like the outdoor pavilion, as well as educational and networking opportunities throughout the show, create true value.”
