Year-over-year Canadian towable sales rose 8.1% during the first eight months of 2017, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
Results by segment showed:
• Travel trailer sales grew 9.9% year-to-date.
• Canadian fifth-wheel sales edged up 3.7% through August.
• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 7.1% year-to-date.
• Park model RV sales showed no gain for the eight months.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through August with a 55.6% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. which notched a 33.7% share.
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the eight months, claiming a 56.9% market share, followed by Forest River (33.5%). Thor was No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 57.5% market share, followed by Forest River (26.9%) and Grand Design RV Co. (10.7%).
Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 68.5% market share while Thor posted a 21.6% share.
