Valley Screen CEO Karen Barnett (R) accepts the Half Century Business Award from Rep. Jackie Walorski

The Valley Screen Co. in Mishawaka, Ind., has received the prestigious Half Century Business Award from the State of Indiana and recognition in the Congressional Record.

According to a press release, Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-Ind., who represents the second district of Indiana, presented both awards to Valley Screen CEO Karen Barnett during a celebration on Oct. 27.

“Congratulations to Valley Screen in Mishawaka on receiving the Governor’s Half Century Business Award,” said Walorski after the event. “For more than 50 years, Valley Screen has been driving innovation and growing Indiana’s economy. I was honored to present the award to CEO Karen Barnett and recognize Valley Screen’s achievement in the Congressional Record.”

In 1967 Barnett’s father, Jerry Bauer, and Galen Heckber started a small silkscreen business called Valley Screen, hiring a handful of workers. Today, that small shop is a multimillion dollar business and a force in the large format graphics business, providing design work, state-of-the-art exterior digital graphics, interior printed backsplashes, cabinet inserts and custom artwork for the RV and marine industries. The company also produces vehicle wraps and fleet graphics, window film, digitally printed wallcovering and custom artwork for the interior architectural community.

The company is now owned and operated by a second generation of Bauers who have “successfully maneuvered the company through changing technology and some very challenging economic times,” the release stated.
