The Goshen (Ind.) City Council is teed up to kick off 2018 with talks over a plan for a small annexation that could have a big impact on the area.

As reported by the Goshen News, the council voted almost unanimously Tuesday (Dec. 19) night to pass the first reading of an ordinance to annex a strip of about 330 acres of land along a private road at 16629 C.R. 36, southeast of the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Lippert Components Inc. would use the annexed property as part of plans to build a new industrial complex for light manufacturing, research and development, and other potential uses, Goshen’s community development director, Mark Brinson, has said.

After the ordinance vote, the council approved a resolution to file a petition for annexation as part of the process.
