Year-over-year Canadian towable sales continued to outpace last year, notching an 11.6% gain for the first 10 months of 2017.
According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), results by segment showed:
• Travel trailer sales grew 13.3% year-over-year through October.
• Canadian fifth-wheel sales were up 8% for the 10 months.
• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 4.5% through October.
• Park model RV sales rose by eight units for the 10 months.
Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through October with a 55.4% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. which claimed a 33.6% share.
Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the 10 months, claiming a 56.6% market share, followed by Forest River (33.5%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 57% market share, followed by Forest River (26.8%) and Grand Design RV Co. (11.6%).
Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 69.3% market share while Thor posted a 21% share.
