Despite a snowstorm the first day, officials are reporting strong attendance at the 52nd Annual Detroit Camper & RV Show, which runs through Sunday (Feb. 11) at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Mich. (To view the slideshow scroll to the right side of the RVBUSINESS.com home page).
Hosted by the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC), the consumer show features about 300 motorized and towable RVs and 50 brands on display, including folding campers, motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth-wheels, toy haulers and a park model, and ranging in price from $6,995 to more than $500,000. In addition, dozens of exhibitors featuring parts and accessories, campground information, on-site RV financing and RV rentals will be on hand.
MARVAC Executive Director Bill Sheffer told RVBUSINESS.com that, despite Wednesday’s snowstorm, it was still the second-best opening day attendance in the last 10 years. He reported that traffic was shoulder-to-shoulder, and dealership personnel often were entertaining multiple people at a time. Another major snowstorm was in the forecast for today as well, with lighter snowfalls expected over the weekend.
