The Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) announced Tuesday (July 10) the appointment of three people to its board of directors, including Terry Goddard, Ryan Krenek and Bob Rohn, who was re-elected.

Goddard is a field sales representative at Tom Manning & Associates, a Michigan-based manufacturers representative firm for the RV and manufactured housing industries.

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the MARVAC board,” Goddard told RVBUSINESS.com. “I have worked with Michigan RV dealers my entire career and look forward to the opportunity to work even closer with MARVAC. Our industry is seeing unprecedented growth and Michigan RV dealers and campgrounds have played a vital role in expanding the market for everyone. I hope to work closer with them to help them succeed and continue to lead the industry.”

The son of Scott Krenek, Ryan Krenek is the sales manager at Krenek RV Super Center in Coloma, Mich., a family owned and operated full-line RV dealership featuring new and used RV sales, rentals, service, parts and accessories.

“I’m honored and I’m humbled; anytime you’re voted by your peers to a position such as this, it’s fantastic,” Krenek told RVBUSINESS.com. “I hope to continue to support our campgrounds and dealers and businesses in Michigan. We have such a wonderful state for the RV industry, and there are a lot of fantastic campgrounds in Michigan to go camping, so as a member of the MARVAC board I’m looking forward to doing anything I can to help make our state even better for both industries.”

Currently the board’s secretary, Rohn is the president of Lake of Dreams Campground Inc., a 77-acre park in Merrill, Mich., that features 253 modern campsites, four-acre lake, two fishing ponds and a host of other amenities.

“We thank our retired board members for their time and service, and we wholeheartedly welcome our new board members. And we’re going to get them going right away. Next week is a board meeting and we’ll have our new members in early for an orientation,” MARVAC Executive Director Bill Sheffer told RVBUSINESS.com.

In other MARVAC news, Sheffer said the sale of display space for the Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show, which is Oct. 3-7 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Mich., is moving along briskly. The Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show will be the first for the facility’s nearly completed expansion project that includes 89,000 square feet of added exposition space – of which 65,000 is column-free space with 40-foot ceilings – bringing the total display space to 300,000 square feet.

Also, Sheffer reported the 23rd Annual Tim DeWitt Harvest Education Foundation Golf Outing was a “resounding success.”

“We had great weather and it was at a great venue at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center in Plymouth. We had something like 45 sponsors. It was a great turnout and we all had a great time,” Sheffer said, adding that the event raised $15,000 for the foundation, which provides competitive scholarships for the children of association members.

Sheffer also noted that its fall Detroit consumer RV show, as with all of its consumer shows, has been renamed. Previously the events were called the “Camper & RV Show,” he noted, but are now referred to as the “RV & Camping Show,” with the respective city preceding the title. The new name better reflects the offerings at the event, according to Sheffer, specifically the campground exhibitors displaying their parks and amenities.
