iN-Command global connect system

Fifth-wheel builder Redwood RV, Winegard Co. and ASA Electronics announced a connectivity collaboration to develop the latest in the ultimate smart RV product lineup for exhibition at the Sept. 24-27 Elkhart RV Open House. According to a press release, representatives will be on hand at the CrossRoads RV booth to demonstrate the iN-Command Global Connect capabilities.

Redwood’s smart Connect 2.0 provides the RV with an Internet data connection that acts as a gateway to the iN-Command system. This will allow owners to connect remotely to the iN-Command and control functions such as lighting, climate control and scheduling, as well as monitor tank levels, battery voltage, water heater and pump and generator functions from virtually anywhere in the world.

“Technology is not going to slow down and wait for the RV industry.  Today, more than ever, people have the desire to be connected, and by partnering with Winegard (2.0 WiFi Extender +4G LTE) and ASA Electronics (iN-Command), Redwood has taken the lead by offering the best network standard,” stated CrossRoads RV General Manager Nate Nickell.

Redwood Product Manager Tim Cress added, “At anytime and anywhere you happen to be, if you have WiFi or cellular service you are connected to your Redwood. The technology is here right now to add the ultimate convenience for our customers. This new Smart Connect 2.0 allows our customers to take advantage of the multiple wireless devices already inside our products today.”

Winegard Connect 2.0

Designed specifically for the mobile environment, the Winegard ConnecT 2.0 WiFi Extender + 4G LTE is a long-range, high-performance WiFi extender that increases the range of accessible WiFi hotspots, well beyond the range of a typical smart device. The product uses its multiple, built-in smart antennas to scan and connect to WiFi signals, rebroadcasting them in and around the camp site.  The 4G LTE model can also connect to nationwide 4G LTE when WiFi is not available, ensuring reliable, uninterrupted, in-motion and stationary coverage.

The 4G LTE ConnecT 2.0 model is now certified with AT&T and Verizon as a 4G LTE mobile hotspot, and RVers can either add it to their new or existing data plan by swapping out the included SIM card or choose Winegard ConnecT’s data plan, which features no-contract, 30-day plans with no data throttling, so users only pay for the time it’s being used.

“Winegard enables connectivity with many devices and software and the chance to work with Redwood and ASA on this project initiative is just one example of how our partnerships’ can tie the pieces together,” said Grant Whipple, Winegard president. “It’s an exciting time to be working with Redwood and other CrossRoads’ brands, which had the foresight to think about the Smart RV of the future and bring us together.”

The Global Connect feature allows iN-Command to communicate with a mobile device when both the RV and the mobile device have a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection. RV owners can control select, non-motorized features like lighting, climate control and scheduling, as well as monitor tank levels, battery voltage, water heater and pump and generator functions remotely.

“iN-Command has grown in popularity with end users and the Global Connect feature is a huge selling point,” said Cedric Waters, RV OEM account manager. “It really shows Redwood’s commitment, not only to the iN-Command system, but to their customers, that they’re using Winegard system to ensure the coach has its own internet connection. This will allow Redwood owners to control their RV from anywhere in the world with Global Connect.”
