Elkhart, Ind.-based Lippert Components Inc. (LCI) opened its doors to 450 8th grade students from Pierre Moran, Goshen, Concord, North Side, Northridge, and Fairfield Middle Schools Oct. 1-10 to celebrate Manufacturing Day 2018. Students toured several of Lippert’s manufacturing facilities to witness the entire RV window production process first-hand and learn about career opportunities in the RV industry. Leaders shared the company’s biography, while human relations personnel spoke about the 100K hours & Dream Achiever program, emphasizing that LCI is not just a manufacturing company but a family as well. Guides explained the different job levels and what Lippert tries to do differently from other companies to make people feel valued. Students also heard several success stories/testimonies from different team members on the floor about how LCI has impacted them and how they achieved their current positions with the company. “There is an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector who can design, program and operate technology,” stated Stephanie Cook, people and talent acquisition leader at LCI. “The average age of a manufacturing team member is 56, and between now and 2020 there will be a definite need for skilled workers who can work within the next generation of manufacturing operations.”
