RV Industry Continues to Enjoy Growth in 2014

The last three years the RV industry has seen tremendous growth coming out of the recession. Increased sales and production are expected within the coming years. Va.-based Reines RV Gets OK to Add New Outlet

A vacant car dealership Ashland, Va., is about to get a new tenant. Ashland Town Council approved a conditional use permit allowing Reines RV Center to establish a recreational vehicle sales operation at the site of the former Sheehy Ford dealership. Report: U.S. Economy Posts 3.5% Growth in 3Q

The U.S. economy grew at a solid annual rate of 3.5% in the July-September quarter, auguring well for its long-term health and ability to boost growth worldwide. Bloomberg reported that the Commerce Department reported the good news Thursday, with 3.5% growth better than economists had expected. Forest Service will Waive Fees for Veteran’s Day

The U.S. Forest Service will waive fees at most of its day-use recreation sites Nov. 8-11 in honor of Veteran’s Day. According to a press release, the fee waiver is the last of four offered this year. The program is in cooperation with other federal land management agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. Go RVing ran its 30-second “Victory” advertisement during Wednesday (Oct. 29) night’s Game 7 of the 2014 World Series. Spartan Motors Posts 3Q Earnings, Sales Gains

Charlotte, Mich.-based Spartan Motors Inc., parent to Spartan Chassis Inc., reported an increase in revenue and earnings for the company’s third quarter, ended Sept. 30 Sales during the period were $144.2 million, up 14.4% from the third quarter of 2013. Net income totaled $3.2 million, or 9 cents per share, versus $0.6 million, or 2 cents per share, the previous year. LKQ Corp. today (Oct. 30) reported record revenue for the third quarter of 2014 of $1.72 billion, an increase of 32.6% as compared to $1.30 billion in the third quarter of 2013.  Chicago-based LKQ, parent company of Keystone Automotive Operations — which, in turn, is parent company of the newly combined NTP-STAG — reported that income for the third quarter of 2014 was $91.5 million, an increase of 24.6% as compared to $73.4 million for the same period of 2013.
