Ind. Unemployment Rate Drops Again in February

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Indiana continued its significant downward trend in February. The rate stands at 6.1%, down from an initially reported 6.4% in January. According to a press release, the number of unemployed Hoosiers is less than 200,000 for the first time since August of 2008. The unemployment rate has been on a downward slide so far in 2014 while the labor force has expanded by nearly 14,000. Ford’s V6 Engine Gaining Ground in Truck Sales

The Ford 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine represents 46% of F-150 pickup truck sales in February and the 3.7-liter V6 represents 11%. 3D Car Shows reported that more than 57% of Ford Motor Co.’s F-150  retail sales so far this year are powered by V6 engines – the highest six-cylinder engine mix in the industry since 1967 – and the company expects that trend to continue for the rest of the year. Ally Financial IPO Could Yield $2.7B for Treasury

Ally Financial Inc., the former GMAC auto lender rescued by the U.S. government during the 2008 financial crisis, is helping the Treasury Department divest its stake by seeking as much as $2.7 billion in an initial public offering. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is expected to sign in to law legislation that was supported by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) and passed by the state’s Senate and House to classify park model RVs as vehicles under Utah law for purposes of registration, titling and taxation. GE to Build $100M Jet Engine Facility in Indiana

General Electric said its aviation unit plans to break ground on a $100 million jet engine plant in Indiana this year, where the company’s joint venture with Safran SA of France will produce its new Leap engine.
