HUD Committee: Grandfather Park Models RVs

The Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee has recommended that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grandfather existing park model RVs to protect park operators and consumers from enforcement actions as HUD implements new regulations. Pump Prices are Under $2 a Gallon in 13 States

Cheap gas spread across the nation faster than holiday cheer. CNNMoney reported that after a weekend of price cutting at stations, gas for less than $2 can be found in 13 states across the country. Two weeks ago there was only one gas station in the country selling gas that cheap. SSI: Motorhomes Sales up 9.1% During October

October motorhome retail registrations grew 9.1% compared to the same period a year ago while sales increased 14.8% year-to-date, according to the latest report by Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). Forest River Inc. was the sales leader for the first 10 months with a 25.2% market share, edging out No. 2 Thor Industries Inc. which captured a 24.2% share. (SSI) has introduced a new program into its arsenal of market data products, allowing dealers and manufacturers to pinpoint sales penetration and buying trends in specific geographic markets. Graph recreational vehicle production trends over the past 35 years and a pattern quickly emerges. The Elkhart Truth reported that every eight to 11 years, wholesale shipments to dealers have sunk to a low point. TriMas Corp., Cequent Look to ‘Divide and Grow’

Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based TriMas Corp. announced last week that it was spinning off Cequent Group, which makes a broad range of towbar and trailer accessories and accounts for about $614 million of the company’s $1.47 billion in revenue over the last 12 months.
